Why join Ewhurst ?
At Ewhurst we have an excellent outdoor bowling green and 3 indoor short mats which we are very proud of. There is ample parking and the club house has a bar, changing rooms and catering facilities. Both clubs are very friendly with informal roll ups, social and fun events where new bowlers can mix, play and learn from those with more experience but in a relaxed atmosphere.
We also have coaches available for those wishing to hone their skills.
For the more competitive and experienced bowlers, we take part in a number of leagues and friendly matches against other clubs throughout the year.

If I have never played before, how do I start ?
In the first instance, contact the secretary of either (or both) clubs. They will tell you the best way of learning how to play and the best times to come down and have a chat. Both clubs run sessions where you can learn the basic skills to a level where you can join in the friendly roll ups. Typically you can have about 4 sessions before deciding whether to join the club of your choice. We have a selection of bowls available for you to use, all you need is a pair of flat shoes.
Is it expensive ?
If you decide that bowls is for you, you will need a pair of flat soled shoes, and depending on which club you join you may need grey trousers/skirts and a white top and possible white trousers/skirts for some matches in the summer. You may also wish to purchase your own set of bowls once you have chosen the size that is best for you. Clothing and sets of bowls are always available second hand so watch the notice board and web site.
Currently subscriptions are £125 for outdoors and £50 for short mat but they may vary from year to year.
